Established in 1977, Cutler Anderson Architects (formerly James Cutler Architects) is nationally known for its environmental awareness and attention to detail. Dedicated to design excellence, the firm has received six National Honor Awards from the American Institute of Architects and over 40 national and regional awards.

James L. Cutler, FAIA - is a registered Architect in Washington, Alaska, New York, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Tennessee, Montana, Wyoming and North Carolina. He has a Master of Architecture degree from the Louis I. Kahn Studio program and both Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jim serves as a juror for national and regional design competitions and has held teaching positions at the University of Washington, University of Pennsylvania, University of Oregon, Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, University of California, Berkeley, University of Oklahoma and Middlebury College. Jim was chosen as Artist in Residence at Dartmouth College and two years later returned to teach Studio Art. He’s also an active lecturer at major architecture events and was a founding member of the Bainbridge Island Land Trust.

Bruce Anderson, AIA - is a partner of Cutler Anderson Architects on Bainbridge Island, Washington. He is registered in the state of Washington and has both Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Washington. He has been with the firm for 24 years, becoming a partner in 2001.
Bruce served as chair of the Bainbridge Planning Commission from 1996-1998. He served on the steering committee of the Bainbridge Island Cultural Plan and also on the Land Use Transition Advisory Committee for the City of Bainbridge Island. He has taught at the University of Washington and served as juror for several courses, design studios and competitions around the country.

Cutler Anderson Architects is currently involved in custom residential, commercial and mixed-use projects in Russia, Poland, Slovakia, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, California, Rhode Island, Oregon and Washington state.
