About The Awtrey House
The Awtrey House, a modern Bed and Breakfast in the Northwest style, is one of the few places on earth where you can spend the night in the architecturally significant construction of world acclaimed architect, James Cutler, and converse with your host, Dennis Awtrey, a former NBA player. Gaze at the hypnotic Pacific Ocean from your private terrace; marvel at a blanket of stars from your luxurious king-size bed; sigh at the sun setting over the ocean while you soak in a deep, relaxing bath; watch the shadows play on the wood beams of your soaring ceilings, board-formed concrete walls and fascinating architectural details; wake to the morning sunlight filtering through walls of clear and frosted glass; and at your leisure, enjoy a full course breakfast prepared by your hosts with local Northwest fare.
The Awtrey House is nestled at the base of Neahkahnie Mountain, almost touching the Pacific Ocean on the Oregon coast, one of the most beautiful places in the world. Neahkahnie lies on a seven mile beach between the charming village of Manzanita and the majestic Neahkahnie cliffs. For over 100 years Neahkahnie has been known for its Northwest architecture and artists’ community. The Awtrey House continues this tradition with the distinct modern syle of architect James Cutler and the paintings of Neahkahnie artist, Pam Greene, who captures the essence of the Oregon coast with her own unique style.
Life is made richer by the people we meet and our experiences along the journey. We have traveled far and wide and our most memorable times were spent in conversation with interesting hosts and guests of intimate and informal bed and breakfasts. We followed our dream and built The Awtrey House in one of the most beautiful settings in the world, on the stunning Oregon coast at the edge of the magnificent Pacific Ocean.
If you are searching for solitude in an intimate setting this is truly your escape—the only sound you'll hear is the peaceful song of the ocean. Keep to yourself if you like, take long walks on the beach, or join us in the great room for a glass of wine or some tea.
